Dals Långed by Night

Growing up in a Stockholm I never saw much fog as a child. When I did, it would usually be while going to visit grandma in the countryside or when waking up early and crawling out of the tent on a camping trip. Here in Dals Långed, I feel like there’s been fog every other day since the autumn began. It’s spooky and I love it. I took this picture at around 9 pm a couple of weeks ago.

Chanterelles for Lunch
It’s an excellent year for mushrooms this year. During the fall I’ve picked a couple of litres of chanterelle and many more litres of funnel chanterelle. The chanterelle is the most popular mushroom in Sweden. There are two reasons for this. It tastes good, and it’s easy to pick since you can’t confuse it with any poisonous mushrooms.
The chanterelle is yummy in a stew or sauce, but here I’ve just fried them in butter and placed on a plain piece of white bread. A beer with that and you’ve prepared what many Swedes would consider a luxury lunch.
